What you can do without paying
- Personal projects, hobbies, side projects.
- Research, experiments, testing.
- Non-commercial organizations: charities, educational institutions, public research bodies, government.
- Evaluation and internal non-production tools within a company.
What requires a commercial license
- Serving production workloads that generate revenue.
- Hosting SpinUP as a managed service for third parties.
- Bundling SpinUP into a commercial product.
- Any use where the primary purpose is commercial gain.

Definitions
PolyForm defines the terms carefully. The short version:
- Noncommercial purpose — any use that isn't commercial (see below).
- Personal use — research, experiment, testing, personal study, private entertainment, hobbies, amateur pursuits, or religious observance without any anticipated commercial application.
- Noncommercial organization — charitable, educational, public research, public safety/health, environmental protection, or government institutions, regardless of funding source.
