SpinUP is source-available under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0.

What you can do without paying

  • Personal projects, hobbies, side projects.
  • Research, experiments, testing.
  • Non-commercial organizations: charities, educational institutions, public research bodies, government.
  • Evaluation and internal non-production tools within a company.

What requires a commercial license

  • Serving production workloads that generate revenue.
  • Hosting SpinUP as a managed service for third parties.
  • Bundling SpinUP into a commercial product.
  • Any use where the primary purpose is commercial gain.

Definitions

PolyForm defines the terms carefully. The short version:

  • Noncommercial purpose — any use that isn't commercial (see below).
  • Personal use — research, experiment, testing, personal study, private entertainment, hobbies, amateur pursuits, or religious observance without any anticipated commercial application.
  • Noncommercial organization — charitable, educational, public research, public safety/health, environmental protection, or government institutions, regardless of funding source.
